What Habits Are For
Habits exist to make consistency visible.
The product does not need to be clever to be useful. It needs to answer:
- what repeats
- how often it was actually done
- where the pattern is strong
- where it is decaying
The Design Principle
A good habit system should reduce ambiguity, not create guilt theater.
That is why the important outputs are simple:
- recent completion history
- streaks
- expected cadence
- percent completion over a window
What Success Looks Like
Habits succeed when they make behavior easier to inspect honestly. Once the pattern is visible, improvement becomes possible.
